Punjab to procure 4 million metric tons of wheat

A comprehensive and solid policy is being followed for the purchase of wheat in a transparent manner by providing all out facilities to the wheat growers. This was stated by Punjab Labour Minister Raja Ishfaq Sarwar during his visit at wheat procurement center Set-VI here on Tuesday. The minister inspected the arrangements at center and reviewed the Bardana issuance process.
He also met with the farmers on the spot and said that Punjab Government had taken a number of measures for the welfare and betterment of the farmers. He said that the target had been fixed by the Punjab government to purchase 4 million metric ton wheat.
He assured the farmers that their rights would be protected and no one would be allowed to exploit the farmers during wheat procurement campaign. The minister said that all administrative machinery had been mobilized to supervise the wheat procurement campaign for maintaining the entire arrangements at the centers for the convenience of the wheat growers. He checked the record of issuance of Bardana and warned the staff to perform their duties fairly.
He directed that the all arrangements should be remained intact and best service delivery should be ensured for making the campaign flawless. He directed that any complaint of farmers should immediately be addressed on the spot. He also inspected the arrangements of wheat storage capacity and directed that the safety of the purchased wheat should be ensured.
Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani briefed the minister about the details of purchased wheat and arrangements of its storage. He said that regular monitoring is being carried out of the 11 wheat procurement centers in the district. DFC Amanullah Somroo informed that 37 percent target had been achieved of issuance of Bardana while 15% wheat has been purchased from the farmers.
He told that all necessary arrangements had been remained active at wheat procurement centers to facilitate the farmers. Secretary Auqaf Punjab Ijaz Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani, Director Labour Munawar Awan, AC City Ahmar Sohail Kaifi, DFC Amanullah and other officers were also present on the occasion.
