The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday sealed a factory for producing fake bottles of a popular brand and confiscated 7,000 ready bottles and raw material in heavy quantity. Director General (Operations) Rafia Haider giving details to media persons said that the vigilance cell of the authority raided a factory in Gulshan-e-Wahab Society Chungi Amarsidhu. The team also recovered 7000 ready bottles which were ready to be shipped to Kasur and suburban areas of Lahore. The authority also confiscated raw material which was wasted on the spot.
The PFA also confiscated filling machines, cylinders, motor, drums and other equipment of the factory. Owner of the factory was also arrested and handed over to the police concerned with registration of a case against him. In other actions, food safety teams of the authority sealed a samosa point and three sweets production units of New Polka sweets on charges of using cosmetic colours and artificial flavours. Seven other food points were imposed a collective fine of Rs 53,000. The teams also visited different Ramazan bazaars and wasted 130 kilograms of rotten vegetables, fruits and expired carbonated drinks.
