JAKARTA: Senior Indonesian central bank official Nanang Hendarsah said on Thursday the rupiah has room to strengthen to levels seen earlier this year at around 13,500-13,700 to the dollar.

"From Bank Indonesia's side, when the rupiah rallies, we will leave further room for it. The rupiah still has room to return to levels seen at the start of 2018," Hendarsah said.

The rupiah weakened to as much as 14,515 per dollar on Thursday after the U.S. Federal Reserve raised rates.
