Sindh Bar Council has announced to go on strike on Friday (today) against the forced disappearances and delay in the recovery of missing person in the country. The decision of strike was taken at a joint meeting of lawyer associations led by Sindh Bar Council. The meeting showed concern over the increase in missing persons in the country and also expressed concern over the findings of a commission constituted on the missing persons issue in the country.
According to an announcement of Sindh Bar Council, the forced disappearances of citizens is tantamount to violation of human rights and in contravention to clauses of constitutions guarantees fundamental rights of the citizens of Pakistan. It demanded to produce those in the court of law, who have been found to have committed any crime. The announcement appealed to the lawyer community to boycott the court proceedings. General bodies meetings would be held and protest would be lodged by wearing black bands.
