A formal notification to withdraw enhanced municipal tax on hosiery machines will be issued within next couple of days while municipal staff has been directed to postpone the recoveries till the issuance of the proper notification, said Muhammad Razaq Malik Mayor Faisalabad Municipal Corporation (FMC).
Addressing an Iftar dinner hosted by Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA) in his honour in PHMA house here on Monday, he said that many problems are not properly highlighted and remain unsolved. However, as Mian Naeem Ahmed Chairman PHMA pointed out this issue, he immediately moved a resolution in the elected house of FMC and got it approved.
"Later, it was forwarded to Punjab Government for the publication of Gazette Notification", he said and added that due to the change of the government, this issue remained pending however; he is expecting that notification now, will be issued very soon.
Regarding complaints of Municipal staff, he said that he would ensure that staff concerned should not visit hosiery units till the publication of proper notification. Responding to the development activities of FMC, he said that he had been given one year's time to undertake the development of the city. He said that so far Rs 1.25 billion projects have been completed. "The city traffic police have confirmed that 32 electric signals are now fully functional while steps are being taken to install another 4 to 5 signals at busiest crossings.
He said that in order to improve the street light system, LED Lights have been purchased while the work for road marking and fixation of cat eye is also under process. The Mayor further said that Rs 10 million have been earmarked for the historical Clock Tower where colorful LED lights have been installed. "The security grill has been installed while leaser water fountains are also been installed", he added.
