The Government of Pakistan, through the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, has approved a sum of Rs 04 million as reward for the Pakistan Davis Cup team, which performed creditably by beating South Korea, one of Asia's top tennis teams, in the Davis Cup tie held in February, 2018. Pakistani team was the underdogs in this tie but the players, particularly Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan, played quality tennis to overcome their stronger opponents.
The government has also approved a grant of Rs 05 million for the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) for it's development programmes. The Executive Committee of the PTF has appreciated the grant of PKR 09 million by the government. The reward to the players is due recognition of their efforts and will motivate them for similar achievements in future. The players have expressed their gratitude to the government for this gesture. The grant for the PTF will be utilized to further improve the existing tennis facilities, said a press release issued here on Saturday.-PR
