Eye Care Services Programme organized free eye camps in different areas of Khyber Agency (Sappari, Jamrud, Taudamila, Soor Kamar, Loe Shalman, Landikotal, Pasid Khel Sheikmal Khel, Charsiano Bara, Zia Uddin, Pawa Jangi, Mandi Kass and Tangi). The aim of the camps was to provide quality eye health services to patients having eye problems at their doorsteps.
Team of doctors, ophthalmic technicians and supporting staff participated. In these camps a total of 994 patients suffering from various ophthalmologic diseases were examined by a qualified team of medical professionals, while 21 cataract surgeries were registered.
A total number of 181 reading glasses have been provided to patients having problems with near visions. The elders of these far-flung tribal areas thanked Director Health and Programme Manager of Eye Care Services Programme Fata for providing quality health facilities at their doorsteps and hoped that more activities would be held in the future as well.
