Hong Kong shares up

Hong Kong shares rose slightly on Monday, ahead of a historic US-North Korea summit that investors hope might pave the way for an end to the nuclear stand-off on the Korean peninsula. The Hang Seng index rose 0.3 percent to 31,063.70, while the China Enterprises Index gained 0.1 percent to 12,172.03.
The sub-index of the Hang Seng tracking energy shares rose 0.4 percent, while the IT sector rose 0.99 percent, the financial sector was 0.3 percent higher and the property sector dipped 0.08 percent. The top gainer on the Hang Seng was Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd up 3.39 percent, while the biggest loser was WH Group Ltd which was down 5.58 percent.
As of the previous trading session, the Hang Seng index was up 3.47 percent this year, while China's H-share index was up 3.9 percent. As of the previous close, the Hang Seng has risen 1.61 percent this month. The top gainers among H-shares were Guangdong Investment Ltd up 3.69 percent, followed by China Gas Holdings Ltd gaining 3.12 percent and CNOOC Ltd up by 1.82 percent. About 1.36 billion Hang Seng index shares were traded, roughly 77.5 percent of the market's 30-day moving average of 1.76 billion shares a day. The volume traded in the previous trading session was 1.77 billion.
