The Provincial Development Working Party approved Rs 332,246.00 million for Implementation of National Flood Protection Plan-IV (NFPP-IV) (Umbrella PC-1 here on Tuesday. The plan envisages (a) Construction of flood protection facilities and maintenance of existing facilities Review of design and maintenance standards of existing facilities (b) Establishment and promotion of flood zoning and enforcement of appropriate land use (c) Optimized reservoir operating rules*(d) Improved and updated flood manuals(e) Effective use of nonstructural measures and Creation of flood response plans.
The scheme was approved in the 74th meeting of PDWP of current fiscal year presided over by Chairman P&D Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan. Secretary, all Members of P&D, Provincial Secretaries and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.
