Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz Thursday left here for London, to celebrate Eid there with ailing Kulsoom Nawaz and other members of Sharif family. While speaking informally to the media before departure to London, Maryam confirmed that she and Nawaz will return to the country next week. "I request the nation to pray for my mother's good health," she added, adding: I am eager to meet my mother."
It may be noted that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested to put names of Nawaz and other Sharif family members on the Exit Control List (ECL). However, the caretaker government has neither rejected nor accepted the NAB's request to place the Sharif family members on the ECL.
Former PML-N chief Sharif, his children and son-in-law are facing three corruption charges in the accountability court for money laundering and illegal offshore holdings. The trial is in the final stage as the Supreme Court has directed the trial court to conclude the case by 10th July. Nawaz Sharif had complained of not getting a "fair trial". He alleged the court had already decided to pass a verdict against him before the 25 July general election.
