The customs department has now made phytosanitary certificate mandatory for all exports of wooden pallet and wooden packing material to the member states of European Union (EU).
The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Port Qasim after witnessing the growing interception of wood packing material carrying textile products to EU countries, which was a violation of international phyto-sanitary measures, has made this certificate mandatory.
As per circular issued by MCC port Qasim, all export of wooden pallet and wooden packing material to the EU member states are not allowed without phytosanitary certificate issued by the department of plant protection.
The collectorate through the circular also directed all terminal operators to ensure submission of requisite phytosanitary certificate in respect of shipments cleared under green channel.
