A protest was staged against merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Bab-e- Khyber on Wednesday. Scores of tribal elites, workers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Fazl-ur-Rahman group (JUI-F) along with general masses while holding black flags, marched from Tehsil building to Bab-e-Khyber, chanted full-throat slogans against merging of the tribal belt into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The protesters leaders including Malik Faizullah Jan Koki Khel, Malik Salahuddin, Malik Abdul Manan Mulagori, Malik Israr, Khyber President of Pakistan People Party (PPP) Hazrat Wali Afridi categorically condemned merging of FATA into KP.
The demonstrators said the outgoing government of Muslim League, Nawaz (PML-N) gave up before handful so-called representatives of the tribesmen and imposed the merging scheme against willing of majority of the tribal that was regretful.
They announced boycott of the up-coming anti-polio drive and all government functions.
The marchers maintained that out of ex- eight parliament members only one supported the plan which proved that tribal were not in favor of the merging. They vowed that all energies would be utilized to revise the decision.
