Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in collaboration with Akhuwat will establish Akhuwat College in Sialkot shortly. A piece of land measuring 15 acres costing Rs 150 million had been donated by Arshad Javaid Warrich a member of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In this regard a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday.
According to the MOU the Akhuwat college will be constructed and operated by Akhuwat and will provide free of cost education and residential facilities to the eligible students from all Provinces of Pakistan including Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Sialkot district on quota basis. According to the MOU there will 15 percent quota for Punjab, 15 percent for KPK, 15 percent Sindh, 15 percent for Balochistan, 15 percent for Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Federally Administrated Tribal areas and 15 percent for students domiciled in Sialkot. Similarly 10 percent quota will be allocated for minorities, armed forces and Akhuwat employees.
Akhuwat College will initially be established as collage affiliated with the Akhuwat University which would later be upgraded to University Sub Campus as per requirement. The MOU ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Dr Farrukh Naveed, Representative of Akhuwat and Arshad Javaid Warrich (Donor).
Speaking on the occasion President SCCI Zahid Latif Malik said that the Akhuwat College will provide quality educational facilities to the students as well as provide opportunities to deserving students in completion of their education. Zahid also thanked the donor of land and Akhuwat for the support for the establishment of Akhuwat college for providing free of cost education.
