The country's pulses import marked 47 percent decline to $482.749 million in July-May 2017-18 from $902.923 million in July-May 2016-17, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Official figures show that in term of quantity, pulses import declined by 547,479 metric tons from 1,170,138 metric tons in July-May 2016-17 to 622,659 metric tons in July-May 2017-18.
In May 2018, the country's pulses import was reduced to $40.018 million from $67.617 million in May 2017, down by 41 percent or $27.599 million. Import volume of pulses plunged by 53 percent or 51,578 metric tons to 45,743 metric tons in May 2018 from 97,321 metric tons in May 2017.
