The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is set to start its election campaign for July 25 general elections from Karachi from where Shahbaz Sharif is also in the run for the national assembly seat. PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif will undertake a two-day tour of Karachi from Monday (June 25). He would stay in Karachi for two days where he would address public gatherings, sources in the PML-N said.
Moreover, Shahbaz continued consultations on Saturday and finalized party nominees for the polls. Shahbaz told the meeting that party tickets shall solely be distributed on the basis of merit, party discipline and loyalty on the recommendations of parliamentary board.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz said: "People of KPK and Sindh have rejected Niazi and Zardari because of their incompetence. If we get an opportunity in the next election, we shall work and deliver in KPK, Sindh and Balochistan as well," he said. The Pakistan Muslim league (Nawaz) announced the party candidates name via twitter account.
The PML-N has fielded Riaz Malik from NA-123, who would be contesting the election against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Mehar Wajid Azeem. Previously, Malik won the 2013 election from the same constituency, then known as NA-118.
Hamza Shahbaz will contest the polls from NA-124. He would be up against PTI's Muhammad Nouman Qaiser. In 2013, Hamza had emerged victorious from the constituency, then known as NA-119. PML-N's Malik Pervaiz will face off Dr Yasmin Rashid of the PTI in NA-125. PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and Begum Kulsoom Nawaz had won elections from the constituency, previously known as NA-120.
Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad of the PML-N will contest the polls against PTI's Hammad Azhar from NA-126, previously known as NA-121. Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Nawaz Sharif, will contest the election from NA-127, previously NA-123, against PTI's Jamshed Iqbal.
In NA-128, the PML-N has fielded Sheikh Rohail Asghar against PTI's Ijaz Ahmed Dayal. Rohail has won the election from the constituency, previously known as NA-124. The party has fielded Khawaja Ahmed Hassan against PTI's Shafqat Mahmood in NA-130, previously known as NA-126. Mahmood won the polls from the constituency in 2013.
Former minister of railways Khawaja Saad Rafique will contest the polls against PTI chairman Imran Khan in NA-131. PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif will contest the polls from NA-132, previously won by PML-N's Sohail Shaukat Butt in 2013. Shahbaz will be up against PTI's Ch Mohammad Mansha Sandhu.
The PML-N has fielded Saif-al-Mulk Khokhar against Karamat Ali Khokhar of the PTI in NA-135. PML-N's Afzal Khokhar had won the 2013 polls from the constituency, then known as NA-128. Afzal Khokhar of the Nawaz-league will contest the polls from NA-136, previously also known as NA-128. He would be up against PTI's Khalid Gujjar or Malik Asad Ali. The PML-N has fielded Ahsan Iqbal from NA-78, Khawaja Asif from NA-73, Rana Sanaullah from NA-106 and Abid Sher Ali from NA-108.
