The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has operationalized its offices at tourists' attraction of Galyat and Bahrain, while acting upon the public complaints, the authority has sealed two hotels and charged four others with heavy fines over selling of sub-standard and expiry food items at the tourists' spots.
Spokesman of the KP Food Authority, Attaullah Khan said that the tourists have gradually increased at scenic spots in the province, wherein it was necessary to establish offices of the Food authority. The spokesman said that authority has conducted first raid after receiving complaints from tourists and sealed off two hotels in Nathiagali due to selling of expiry items, rotten vegetable and meat. He said the heavy fines were imposed on four other hotels in the scenic spot.
Tourists on the occasion appreciated the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority immediate action against the hotels. While the traders unions have also lauded the action and assured it for full cooperation. The spokesman further said that a team of KP Food Authority had also conducted raid in Bahrain area of Swat region and thoroughly checked food items in various outlets and hotels there. He said a number of shops, hotels and restaurants were issued warning notices to improve the quality and standard of their food stuffs.
