NA-95, Mianwali: Tribunal allows Imran to contest election

26 Jun, 2018

An election tribunal (ET) on Monday accepted the appeal of Imran Khan and allowed him to contest election from NA-95, Mianwali. Earlier, the counsel for Imran Khan, argued that Khan mentioned complete detail of his assets and properties in his nomination papers.
He said Returning Officer (RO) rejected his nomination papers purely on technical grounds that he did not submit an affidavit along with his papers. The counsel said this decision of the RO was against the facts. He pleaded the court to set aside the decision of the RO and allowed his client to contest election.
On other hand, his opponent candidate Jahandar Khan, said the affidavit submitted by Khan was not verified by the oath commissioner and every page of his papers carried different signs of Khan.
He alleged Khan did not mention assets of his two sons. Counsel representing ECP opposed arguments of Khan's counsel saying that RO's decision was right and based on facts.
Another tribunal also dismissed appeal of Pakistan Justice Party's Mudassar Ch against Imran Khan for NA-131 and allowed Khan to contest election. Meanwhile, the bench also turned down the appeal of Sardar Ayaz Sadiq of PML-N against Aleem Khan of PTI contesting election from NA-129 Lahore.
