Newly-appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Lahore Shahzad Akbar on Wednesday clamped ban over displaying of weapons by politicians and their supporters during their election campaigns. "In this regard, all divisional Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been directed to strictly observe the ban during the election campaign of all political parties," the DIG said, adding that no one will be allowed to take law into their hand.
He also ordered the SPs and DSPs to devise a comprehensive security by holding meetings with politicians so that they could provide foolproof security to their public meetings or rallies before the general elections.
