Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 123,005 tonnes of cargo comprising 108,189 tonnes of import cargo and 14,816 tonnes of export cargo including 5,221 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 108,189 tonnes comprised of 46,474 tonnes of containerised cargo; 529 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,850 tonnes of rock phosphate and 54,336 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 14,816 tonnes comprised of 14,461 tonnes of containerised cargo and 355 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 5,221 containers comprising of 3,475 containers import and 1,746 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,085 of 20's and 965 of 40's loaded while 60 of 20's and 200 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 433 of 20's and 157 of 40's loaded containers while 09 of 20's and 495 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Cosco Rotterdam, Tolten, Al Mayors, R-Ocean and Gemini Leader carrying containers, coal, bitumen and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. OOCL California, Bomar Hermes, MS Tiger, Piraeus, Alonissos and Gemini Leader carrying containers, fertilizer and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 145,524 tonnes includes 19,576 tonnes of furnace oil; 10,500 tonnes of palm oil; 37,500 tonnes of coal; 18,000 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 3,122 tonnes of palm kernel; 2,581 tonnes of chemical and 54,245 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,718 tonnes includes 13,718 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,576 containers comprising of 2,854 containers import and 722 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Esthi and MT Al Marrouva carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MV Pacific Valour carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV CSAV Tyndall, CV MSC Esthi, CV Northern Monument, MV Spring Melody, MV Pacific Valour, MV Stahla, MV Ocean Princess, MV Dewi Sarabwati, MT Al Marrouva, MT Adele Marina and MT Atlas were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, bitumen, soyabean seeds, palm kernel, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eighteen ships namely CV APL Antwerp, MV Industrial Revolution, MV Tatjana, MV Amadeus, MV Shan Dong Chong, MV Euro Force, MV Sbi Leo, MV Spar Vega, MV Navios Oriana, MT Maria-III, MT Lion-M, MT Euro Brave, MT Glorious, MT Freight Margie, MT Jo Pinari, MT NCC Qamar, MT Risa and MT Phonix Nereid carrying containers, project cargo, steel product, soyabean, condensate, coal, cement, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. MV Rotany Bay and MT Sbi Leo carrying coal expected to take berths at Iron Ore and Coal Berth on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MV Rotany Bay carrying coal due to arrive on Wednesday.
