CS directed to submit details of Sindh Coal Authority's projects, funds

A two-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday sought the details of Sindh Coal Authority's projects and the funds released against them and directed Sindh Chief Secretary to submit the detailed reply in the court in two weeks.
The bench headed by Justice Maqbool Baqir resumed the hearing of a suo moto case on alleged corruption and irregularities in Sindh Coal Authority (SCA). In the last hearing, SC had come hard on the provincial authorities for irregularities in the authority.
Acting Advocate General Sindh told the apex court at its Karachi Registry that the chief secretary was away from the city for participation in the meetings being held regarding arrangements about general elections in Islamabad. He informed the bench that issues related to Thar coal have been forwarded to Director General Monitoring Cell to look into them.
The bench, which had sought the complete records of SCA in the last hearing, inquired about the number of projects undertaken by the authority and the funds released against them so far. "What progress has been made on these projects as well as their pictures," bench sought the details from the provincial government.
Acting Additional Advocate General pleaded that provincial government should be given one week time to submit a detailed reply about SCA and the projects it has been carryout out. The SC bench granted two weeks to furnish detailed reply.
Meanwhile, SC's bench issued notices to Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police (IGP) and Advocate General Sindh in a case pertaining to illegal appointments in provincial police department.
