National Accountability Bureau on Friday filed reference against former Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahad Khan Cheema and others over Ashiyana Housing Scheme scam.
Ahad Khan Cheema was on judicial remand till July 4th after completing 90-day physical remand in the NAB custody.
The other five accused include Bismillah Engineering Company owner Shahid Shafiq, LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, Punjab Land Development Company Chief Engineer Colonel (retd) Arif Majeed, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PLDC Imtiaz Haider and another PLDC official Bilal Qudwai.
According to the reference, Ahad Cheema caused Rs660 million loss to the national exchequer in Ashiyana Scheme scam. The project cost was enhanced to Rs3.399 billion for which 61,000 persons who had applied for homes suffered.
On May 16, the Lahore High Court granted bail to two co-accuse Israr Saeed and Arif Majeed and directed them to submit their passports to the NAB.
Ahad Khan Cheema was arrested over charges of misusing his authority and awarding Ashiana-e-lqbal project contract worth Rs14 billion to Lahore CASA Developers, in violation of PPP Act, 2014.
NAB inquiry further revealed that Bismillah Engineering Services Co (a major shareholder of JV titled Lahore CASA Developers) was a proxy firm working on behalf of Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd.
