The Karachi Port handled 163,608 tonnes of cargo comprising 125,352 tonnes of import cargo and 38,256 tonnes of export cargo including 7,264 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 125,352 tonnes comprised of 67,182 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,242 tonnes of rock phosphate; 14,000 tonnes of coal; 8,603 tonnes of DAP and 32,325 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,256 tonnes comprised of 38,256 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 7,264 containers comprising of 3,527 containers import and 3,737 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,415 of 20's and 881 of 40's loaded while 342 of 20's and 04 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 943 of 20's and 557 of 40's loaded containers while 596 of 20's and 542 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Hyundai Splendor, Piraeus, Hansa Offenburg, Bomar Hermes, Cosco Colombo, Kota Kaya and Chemroad Nova carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Botany Bay, Kota Kaya, APL New Jersey, Maliakos, MSC Positano, NACC Falcon, Aurelia and Heilan Equilbrium carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 93,688 tonnes includes 26,282 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,000 tonnes of palm oil; 15,528 tonnes of coal; 8,132 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 506 tonnes of project cargo; 3,479 tonnes of chemical and 30,761 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 37,208 tonnes includes; 3,008 tonnes of cement and 34,200 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,419 containers comprising of 1,619 containers import and 1,800 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely MV YM Miranda and MT Adele Marina Rizzo carrying chemical and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely CV APL Antwerp, CV Express Athens, MV Industrial Revolution and MV Spring Melody carrying containers, project cargo and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV APL Antwerp, CV Express Athens, MV Industrial Revolution, MV Spring Melody, MV Sbi Leo, MV Navios Oriana, MV Stahla, MV YM Miranda, MT Adele Marina Rizzo, MT Lion-M and MT NCC Qamar were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen ships namely MV Tatjana, MV Euro Force, MV Amadeus, MV Shan Dong Chong Wen, MV Spar Vega, MT Mathane Heter Sally, MT Maria-III, MT Lion-M, MT Euro Brave, MT Glorious, MT Freight Margie, MT Jo Pinari, MT NCC Qamar, MT Risa and MT Phonix Nereid carrying steel product, condensate, soyabean, coal, LNG, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were four vessels viz. CV APL New Jersey, CV Maersk Benolonville, MV Tatjana and MT Mathane Heter Sally carrying containers, steel product and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV APL New Jersey and CV Maersk Benolonville carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely CV Virgo and CV Nicoline Maersk carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
