Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday instructed the concerned authorities to provide a construction plan of Rawalpindi's Mother and Child Hospital in 15 days and finish its construction work in 18 months. A two-judge bench headed by the Chief Justice heard the case related to the hospital, officials of the PWD, Nespak and other relevant departments.
The top judge expressed disappointment over the delay of 10 years in hospital's construction and warned that further delay would not be tolerated in this regard. The apex court will supervise the construction work from now and there will be no interruption in releasing of funds, CJP assured.
During the hearing, the officials of the related authorities sought two years to complete the project and mentioned a total cost of over Rs 5.3 billion. Nevertheless, CJP Saqib Nisar granted 18 months to complete the project and asked them for a daily progress report on the matter.
