A campaign against dowry culture in Pakistan began a week ago as many Pakistani celebs have been raising their voice against the issue. However, Twitter seems divided over the campaign as many are seen mocking it.
Soon after celebs shared pictures of them with 'Stop jahez khori' (stop taking dowry) written on their hands, some Twitter users were quick to call them hypocrites. Many social media users took to Twitter against the celebs, saying that celebrities spend almost millions at their weddings are now against the extravagant spending on dowry.
Social media is flooded with memes and comments mocking the serious campaign. Everyone seems to have some different take on this ongoing issue.

while many condemn the efforts by Pakistani celebrities, there were many who also stood in their support. They asserted dowry hoarding and putting the girl and her parents under financial pressure is just not okay.
In the wake of ongoing debate about #JahezkhoriBandKaro
People are saying that girls also demand too much from a groom.
My answer: No man was ever murdered for failing to provide for his wife or not giving the haq meher.

#JahezKhoribandkaro highlights an issue of FATAL VIOLENCE against women.
Expectations from potential grooms don’t physically harm them ffs.
Pakistani men are reaching a new low by comparing a subject that gets women killed with a subject that merely hurts their fragile ego.— Shafaq Sohail (@sohail_shafaq) December 26, 2018
I don't understand why these kinda desi men always like to counter attack instead of supporting a good cause 😑
I do agree the change has to be on both sides but trust me this is not the best way to do it.#JahezKhoriBandKero #JahezKhoribandkaro pic.twitter.com/pr3yKmHB2I— Alveena Mir (@AlveenaMir) December 23, 2018
Ok so why are men talking against the anti dowry campaign? Doesn't a MAN have daughters too? Ultimately its a man ee that has to arrange that dowry? its HIS daughters that are tortured for it. Yani get out of your stupid soch for a second guys. #JahezKhoriBandKaro

Women get tortured and even killed over the dowry issue, people (both men and women) get harassed and molested daily but instead of appreciating movements like“me too”and #JahezKhoribandkaro, people are making memes out of it! Because that’s what humanity has to offer in this era.

#Stopjahezkhori is a trend that has started on internet, coining a new term 'Jahez khori' to express their displeasure at the imprudent demand placed by the groom’s family.
