The caretaker Federal Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman assured the employees of the Engineering Development Board (EDB) that he would consult Secretary Industries to remove 'caretaker' CEO besides taking the case of the EDB for its revival on Wednesday.
He made this commitment with the dozens of protesting EDB employees who gathered in Block A of Pak Secretariat and demanded immediate removal of Mirza Nasir Baig, a General Manager, who has been given acting charge of CEO for the last one year, which is illegal.
Employees comprising two General Managers apprised the caretaker Minister for Industries and Production that the incumbent CEO is involved in illegal decisions which led to the dissolution of the organisation.
According to the employees, they are working under stress in the organisation due to impolite attitude of CEO, citing a recent incident in which a Manager suffered a heart attack.
"Since the day we pointed out wrong doings of CEO, we are facing discrimination in the organisation," said the employees. The Minister was apprised that one General Manager has already quit the organisation due to CEO's discriminatory attitude.
The caretaker Minister who is also an industrialist pointed wrongdoings in EDB, saying that the organisation issued solar panel manufacturing license to companies established under one shop stop.
This correspondent witnessed exchange of hot words between EDB employees and CEO EDB in the visitor's waiting room of Ministry of Industries and Production. The employees wanted to meet Secretary Industries and Production Maroof Afzal to request the immediate removal of the CEO who, according to Ministry's officials, is incompetent and confused.
