The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Tahir attended a briefing on the utilization of geo-tagging technology by police in general elections 2018 at CPO Peshawar on Thursday. Additional IGP operations Muhammad Ali Baba Khel briefed the IGP about the use of geo-tagging technology in security plans designed for the security of most sensitive polling stations throughout the province.
The IGP was informed that a one day training workshop was arranged for all police officers who are performing duties in the information technology sections and have knowledge about computer and information technology. The IGP was also informed that the participants were trained on scientific lines how to tag sensitive polling stations and adopt security measures. It was also revealed on the occasion that all relevant information about elections security would be available at one click.
Such measures will help district police to respond within minimum time hence police will benefit from technology that will result into instant response. The IGP was further informed that this cell will ensure peaceful conduct of general elections. The IGP while talking on the occasion expressed full satisfaction over the security arrangements made for elections 2018 through latest information technology geo-tagging system and directed the participants of the workshop to make maximum use of the latest information technology for fair, transparent and peaceful elections throughout the province. The IGP hoped that the use of new technology would greatly help the police department in maintaining peace and tranquillity.
