Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major-General Asif Ghafoor on Monday committed to contribute in the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams on behalf of the Pakistan's Armed Forces. "Pakistan Armed Forces are contributing to Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dam Fund. The officers of Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force will contribute their two days' pay while soldiers will contribute one day's pay to the announced fund for this national cause," Ghafoor tweeted.
The fund was announced by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar in recent days. He has committed not to let anyone misappropriate funds which are being collected for construction of dams to resolve the country's water crisis.
Reiterating the need for building dams to overcome Pakistan's acute water shortage, the CJP while hearing a case observed that the Supreme Court appealed [to the public] to gather funds for immediate construction of Bhasha and Mohmand dams.
The judge himself donated Rs 1 million to the account created solely for the purpose of fund raising for construction of dams. His donation is the first contribution to the said account, according to a press release issued on Thursday last.
The account titled 'Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam Fund-2018,' has been opened by the Finance Division of the government of Pakistan under the Supreme Court's order. It bears account No. 03-593-299999-001-4 and IBAN PK06SBPP0035932999990014.
