Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi recently launched its latest smartphone under its new ‘Play’ lineup and also making it to the Guinness World Record by putting up the largest smartphone display.
Recently, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi introduced its new phone called Xiaomi Mi Play alongside setting up a new Guinness World Record using the phone for creating the world’s largest display of an 8-meter-long Christmas tree using about 1,005 same smartphones.
Gizmo China reported, as per the firm, one of the main hurdles to build up a huge display using numerous phones is to connect those phone’s screens into a matrix and making sure that all of the phones and in 100% sync.

The same tree-type structure was also made available to the public, later doubling-up to provide high-speed internet connectivity to the customers in the shopping mall where it set up the tree. The tree then also became the biggest hotspot in Beijing.
Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun informed that the tree was being planned since two weeks. The team initiated the construction at 04:00am and was completed at around 04:00pm. The tree also broke previous record held by a display using 504 smartphone units, reported Phone Arena.
Meanwhile, the all new Xiaomi Mi Play features a 5.84-inch screen with a waterdrop notch. It is also the first smartphone to be powered by MediaTek Hello p35 octa-core chipset, carrying a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It contains a 12MP + 2MP dual camera, and an 8MP front camera with face recognition feature, dual-SIM and 3,000mAh battery.
Also, the phone costs 1,099 yuan ($160), but is unlikely to make it to international markets as of yet. Chinese buyers will also get one year of free data, or free 10GB internet data per month.
