The much-awaited trailer of ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ starring Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Juhi Chawla is out and it seems to touch an unconventional topic of love.
The trailer promises to bring back the old world charm of romance. However, also stays relevant to the current times and reminds that you need to stop being judgmental about one's love interest. The trailer begins with Rajkummar narrating a play. He tells the audience the story of the time he fell in love with a girl, played by Sonam.
Sonam's family is looking for a suitable match for her and although there are several good options for her, she doesn't settle for anyone and is just not ready to say yes to any of them. Throughout the trailer, Sonam seems to have a special bond with Rajummar not a romantic one but a close bond.
She says she has a secret, something that causes her parents to turn against her. Bits from the trailer seem to give the impression that Sonam might be homosexual, as some of the clips show two women being torn apart by a mob, hinting that she has fallen in love with a girl.
#LetLoveBe, as the hashtag of the film, also gives a message to stop discriminating love on the basis of caste, creed and sex. The movie will hit theatres on February 1, 2019.
Seems like Bollywood has once again targeted another unconventional topic to discuss in their upcoming film. This will be the first time since 2016’s ‘Kapoor & Sons’ that a homosexual character will be front and centre of a big Bollywood movie. Earlier in ‘Kapoor & Sons’ Pakistan actor Fawad Khan played a gay man in the film, which was praised by critics and audiences alike.
