The Karachi Port handled 131,373 tonnes of cargo comprising 106,384 tonnes of import cargo and 24,989 tonnes of export cargo including 4,411 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 106,384 tonnes comprised of 32,770 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,167 tonnes of bulk cargo; 10,797 tonnes of DAP and 61,650 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,989 tonnes comprised of 23,666 tonnes of containerised cargo; 523 tonnes of bulk cargo and 800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,411 containers comprising of 1,954 containers import and 2,457 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,061 of 20's and 445 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 773 of 20's and 308 of 40's loaded containers while 386 of 20's and 341 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely Kota Layar, Hyundai Global, APL Le Havre, Chemroute Pegasus and Martine Prosperity carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Maersk Slina and KMTC Mumbai carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 152,768 tonnes includes 13,000 tonnes of palm oil; 78,406 tonnes of coal; 10,500 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 22,852 tonnes of steel coil and 26,144 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 31,996 tonnes includes 31,996 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,060 containers comprising of 1,376 containers import and 1,684 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely CV MS Tiger carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely CV MOL Courage, MV African Puffin and MV Serene Juniper carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MOL Courage, CV MS Tiger, MV African Puffin, MV Serene Juniper, MV LMZ Phoese, MV Shan Dong Chong Wen, MV Malta Elan, MT AS Bong-1 and MT Ceasar were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, steel coil, bitumen and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely MV Sun Shine, MV Alora, MV ISV Bosch Hoek, MV Ocean Enterprise, MV Amis Leader, MT Maria-III, MT JO Pinari, MT Glorious, MT Meltemi, MT UACC Shamiya, MT NCC Najam and MT Horizon carrying barges/boats, soyabean, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were three vessels viz. CV Hansa America, CV Maersk Salina and MV Amis Leader carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Friday.
There were three ships namely CV CMA CGM Virginia, CV Hansa America and CV Maersk Salina carrying containers due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV Cape Mayor, CV X-Press Suez and CV Virgo carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
