Recent surge in terrorism aimed at delaying polls: Imran

15 Jul, 2018

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said the recent surge in terrorism is aimed at delaying the forthcoming polls. Addressing at a public gathering in Gohati Cricket ground district Swabi, PTI Chief said there were some elements in the country, which had devised plan to postpone the July 25 general election but it would be held despite the various conspiracies hatched.
"The conspiracy to conduct terror in Pakistan is planned abroad and facilitated from the people within the country," he added. "The foreign forces want to delay polls." Imran said the continued suicide attack had shaken him but he made clear that they were not afraid of terrorists' activities and none of the public meeting of PTI till July 23 would be postponed at any price. He said that two factors caused the recent suicide attacks; one was internal and other was external. He did not explain the factors.
However, he said that internal elements, who did not want a prosperous Pakistan and the election, devised plan to indulge in such activities and the external powers also wanted to harm the country. He said after hearing about killing of Siraj Raisani he wanted to postpone the Swabi, Mardan and Texila public gatherings but on the other hand he thought about the younger generation who were the future of the country and real builders of the nation and they needed to be put on the right track to sail the country from crises.
The PTI chief said that corruption was family business of the Sharif family, adding that former prime minister Nawaz returned as he was assured by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif that millions will be on roads to welcome him. "Only four to five thousand were there to welcome Nawaz," he said. "Shehbaz has tricked him, the road is clear for him with Nawaz in Adiala Jail."
The PTI chief said that Shehbaz will soon join Nawaz in Adiala after the reopening of corruption references. "For those who went to welcome Nawaz, I ask them do you have any shame? You went to welcome a plunderer."
Imran Khan said that about 22 years back he said that the most serious threat to the country was the menace of corruption which ate all vital of the country. "Nawaz Sharif's one son lives in a house worth Rs 600 crore and the other one in worth Rs 300 crore. All this was collected from where?" he questioned. From where Nawaz Sharif had managed Rs 300 billion, he posed another question.
"I do not have a signal penny abroad. It's an open book and could be checked by anyone," he said. He said that every outgoing government in past two decades had left two things: an empty treasure and JUI(F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman who remained part of every government and deceived the masses.
"Due to wrong policies and priorities the country debt climbed to an unbelievable peak and the dollar had devoured our currency. The price of power had increased 410 percent in the last one decade, the wheat flour price jumped from Rs 13 per kg to Rs 45, the petrol and diesel price increased 380 percent but no one think about the poor masses to whom the entire burden had been transferred. Asad Qisar, former speaker of KP Assembly, Shahram Khan Tarakai, former provincial minister and other contesting candidates of PTI also addressed on the occasion.
