Caretaker Minister for Environment, Law and Information Sindh, Jameel Yusuf has said that directions had already been issued to respective departments to look into the laws pertaining to address the environment and other issues.
Speaking at a meeting with representatives of trade and business associations, the media and ABAD, he said, "We should not waste any time and urged industrial sector and businessmen to take practical steps in this regard". He assured that the government would also provide help in resolving the environment related issues. He hoped that the traders and associations will also play their due role in positive manner.
He said that today we had gathered here to discuss the environmental and other social issues and set a strategy to resolve the issues with the consensus of all stakeholders. The government is extending all possible cooperation and assistance to the industrialists for boosting the economy of the country and development of the province at large.
Jameel Yusuf said that all work did by the judiciary, it means our administration has been collapsed but it would be revived by doing and working properly for the betterment of the society as a whole, to follow the rules and regulations and proper planning of the environment and other issues to take up all collectively.
About holding of general election in the country, the minister said the caretaker government has given a mandate to hold free, fair and peaceful elections in time on 25th July 2018. He categorically rejected the allegations on twitter and other social media application and all contesting candidates and political parties as well as their supporters are free to carry out their campaigns and activities as per the code of conduct issued by the ECP.
He said that candidates may approach the DROs and DMOs formally in case of any complaint. Jameel said that 20,000 CCTV cameras would be installed in Sindh. He said that political parties should not violate the code of conduct as agreed with the ECP.
Additional Chief Secretary Environment, Mukhtiar Soomro has assured that all traders' associations will be assisted to develop industrial sector's promotion and growth after consultation with them and ensure their participation at respective forum to settle all issues confronted to industries. Secretary Law, Abdul Raheem Soomro has also said that to ascertain all ways and means under the recommendation of the meeting to implement the laws as per requirements. Water commission has also helped us to resolve the issues related to environment and traders will also helping and cooperating with the government in this regard.
Director General EPA Naeem Mughal, Zubair Motiwala, Gulzar Firoz, Cap A Moiz Khan (retd), Qaiser Waheed and others also attended the meeting.
