A neck and neck contest is expected in NA-22 Mardan-III between candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Ali Mohammad Khan, candidate of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) Maulana Mohammad Qasim and candidate of PML-N candidate Jamshid Khan Mohmand.
A total seven candidates are contesting election in constituency NA-22 Mardan-III of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, a tough contest and interesting contest is expected between PTI candidate Ali Mohammad Khan, MMA candidate Maulana Qasim, PML-N candidate Jamshid Mohmand while PPP candidate Shoaib Alam Khan, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan candidate Ihsanullah, ANP candidate Malik Aman Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Z candidate Azmat Ali are also contesting election on this seat.
According to details, the constituency NA-22 Mardan-III has 389,688 registered voters including 161,820 female voters, about 321 polling stations including 79 for male, 74 for female and 168 combined has been established in the constituency. However in the last five years 68,028 more voters were registered in this constituency.
The constituency was formerly known as NA-10 (Mardan-II) from 1977 to 2018. The name changed to NA-22 (Mardan-3) after the delimitation in 2018. Ali Mohammad was contested on PTI ticket in the last general elections secured 46,531 votes and won this seat, his opponents JUI-F candidate Maulana Qasim secured 39,269 votes, ANP candidate Mohammad Farooq Khan secured 19,436 votes, JI candidate Sultan Mohammad secured 19,436 votes, PPP candidate Nawabzada Abdul Qadar Khan secured 15,345 votes and PML-N candidate Naseem Mohammad Khan secured 11,491.
MMA candidate Maulana Qasim secured 69,726 votes in general elections 2002 and won this seat, Rahim Dad Khan of PPP secured 14,541 votes. Similarly, JUI-F candidate Maulana Qasim in the 2002 election again won this seat and secured 29,279 votes, PPP candidate Nawabzada Abdul Qadir secured 23,134 votes while ANP, Mohammad Farooq Khan secured 21,115 votes.
The PTI workers claimed that 68,028 new voters were registered in this constituency and majority of them will use their votes in favour of PTI candidate. However two religious parties' candidates Maulana Qasim of MMA and Ihsanullah of Tehreek-e-Labbak Pakistan are also contesting election against each other in this constituency.
Political analysts said that this will divide the religious vote in this constituency and it will benefit the PTI and PML-N candidate in this constituency.
While the MMA, PML-N workers and supporters claimed that PTI has failed to fulfil their promises in the last five years and due to this reason the voters will use their votes in favor of their party candidates. However political analysts said that tough contest is expected on this seat between PTI, MMA and PML-N. This national assembly constituency is included by two provincial assembly constituencies' PK-54 and PK-55. In PK-54 Mardan-7 (Old 26-Mardan-4) ,total registered voters are 154,223, including 64,025 female, while the total polling stations are 133 including 38 for male and 35 for women and 60 are combined.
Total 8 candidates are contesting election on this seat, however tough contest is expected between PTI candidate Iftikhar Ali Mashwani, ANP Sher Afghan Khan, MMA candidate Nadir Shah, PPP Malik Ejaz Khan, PML-N Mumtaz Ali Khan, while Tehreek-e-Labbak Pakistan candidate Irfan Ali, independent candidate Zarshahad Khan and other independent candidate Obaid Khan with symbol of jeep are contesting election as independent candidate.
In the 2013 election Iftikhar Ali Mashwai of PTI won election on this seat. In PK-55-Mardan-8 (old PK-27-Mardan-5), total registered voters are 153,117, including 63,603 female, about 122 polling stations including 26 are for male and 24 for women and 72 are combined. Total 12 candidates are contesting election on this seat.
However, tough contest is expected between PTI candidate Adil Nawaz, PPP candidate former provincial minister Rahimdad Khan, PML-N Jamshid Khan Mohmand, MMA candidate Fazl-e-Rabani, ANP candidate Nasir Khan, Tehreek-e-Labbak Pakistan candidate Ihsanullah, JUP-S candidate Akhtar Gul, AmanTaraqqi Party candidate Arshid Ali, APML candidate Jalal-ud-Din, Tehreek-e-Jawanan Pakistan candidate Abdul Wahab, PTI-Gulala group candidate Nadeem Shah and an independent candidate Sattar Khan.
In 2013 election Imran Mohmand as independent candidate won election, however later on he was martyred in a suicide attack and later on his brother Jamshid Mohmand as independent candidate won election on this seat. Later on he announced to support PTI, however later on he changed his decision and joined the PML-N.
