The Karachi Port handled 191,904 tonnes of cargo comprising 148,040 tonnes of import cargo and 43,864 tonnes of export cargo including 8,361 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 148,040 tonnes comprised of 56,526 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,713 tonnes of bulk cargo; 46,510 tonnes of coal and 41,291 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,864 tonnes comprised of 32,711 tonnes of containerised cargo; 353 tonnes of bulk cargo and 10,800 tonnes of clinkers. As many as 8,361 containers comprising of 3,894 containers import and 4,467 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,329 of 20's and 1,255 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 27 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 826 of 20's and 677 of 40's loaded containers while 555 of 20's and 866 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Kota Kamil and Devon Trader carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. JPO Atair, Navios Unison, MOL Globe, Wehr Schulau and SS Invincible carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 70,900 tonnes includes 3,023 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,400 tonnes of palm oil; 41,339 tonnes of coal; 1,486 tonnes of LPG and 9,652 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 58,235 tonnes includes 58,235 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,573 containers comprising of 508 containers import and 3,065 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV Maersk Atlanta and MT Khor Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Asya, MT JO Pinari and MT NCC Najem carrying containers, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Maersk Atlanta, CV MSC Asya, CV MOL Globe, MV Flag Zannis, MV Ocean Enterprise, MV Ikan Salmon, MT Khor Gas, MT JO Pinari, MT Gao Cheng-3 and MT NCC Najem were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV Teno, MV Sun Shine, MV Alora, MV IVS Swinley Forest, MV Lowland Future, MT Maria-III, MT LNG Simaisma, MT Glorious, MT Meltemi, MT Yu Fu, MT Chemroad Wing and MT Horizon carrying containers, barges/boats, soyabean, coal, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Teno, CV Gulf Bridge, MV IVS Swinley Forest and MT LNG Simaisma carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore and Coal Berth and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were two ships namely CV Songa Calabria and CV Safmarine Nyassa carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
