Textile group exports contracted by I.94 percent in June 2018 over the same month a year before and remained $1.194 billion against $1.217 billion, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). However, exports of textile group during July-June 2017-18 increased by 8.67 percent over July-June 2016-17 and were recorded at $13.530 billion against $12.450 billion.
Export of raw cotton yarn increased to US $124.03 million in June 2018 from $109.368 million a year before, reflecting an increase of 13.40 percent while exports of cotton cloth increased to $188.26 million from $174.973 million which shows an increase of 7.60 percent.
Export of yarn other than cotton increased to $3.238 million in June 2018 from US $2.128 million in June 2017 and posted a 52.16 percent growth while exports of knitwear posted a marginal growth of 0.97 percent and reached $257.423 million from $254.955 million. Export of towel declined by 20.72 percent to $60.022 million from $75.706 million and export of tents, canvas and tarpaulin contracted by 42.91 percent to $.5.441 million from $ 9.531 million. Export of readymade garments decreased by 2.94 percent to $235 million from $242 million. Exports of textile group for the entire fiscal year July-June 2017-18 over a year before increased to $13.530 billion from $12.450 billion showing an increase of 8.67 percent. Raw cotton exports increased to $58.227 million from $43.567 million showing a growth of 33.65 percent. Export of cotton yarn increased to $1.371 billion for the last entire fiscal year from $1.243 billion a year before, posting a growth of 10.30 percent; cotton cloth to $2.203 billion from $2.135 billion with 3.17 percent growth; yarn other than cotton yarn to $33.411 million from $24.063 million registering a growth of 38.95 percent; knitwear to $2.719 billion from $2.361 billion with 15.17 percent growth and export of bed wear increased to $2.261 billion from $2.137 billion showing a growth 5.77 percent.
Export of towels declined by 0.43 percent to $797.108 million during the last fiscal year from $800.569 million a year before; and tents, canvas & tarpaulin by 36.22 percent to $85.275 million from $133.787 million while exports of readymade garments increased by 11.22 percent to $2.579 billion from $2.318 billion.
