Dr Ashfaque Hassan Khan was among those independent economists who had been denigrated by the 'economic wizards' of the PML-N governments for their criticism of government's policies. They always speak clearly and directly about the economic mess; they're good at calling a spate a spate.
In his last op-ed for Business Recorder, Dr Khan impressively explains what actually constitutes debt. According to him, "It is a fact that debt in absolute terms is a meaningless concept. It is not the debt but the burden of debt that matters. Burden of debt is defined in many ways but it all boils down to the country's debt payment capacity." No doubt, Dr Khan is among those persons who have comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of economics and finance. He is therefore requested to stop complaining so much about a government which is no longer there.
