23 Jul, 2018

President Tehsil Bar Association Sambrial of District Sialkot Muhammad Muazzam on Sunday said that general elections 2018 is an important occasion in the history of Pakistani nation so every citizen must take well informed and well-thought out decision while exercising his/her right to vote.
He was addressing the participants of the training session for "Potential Women Polling Agents" organized by Baidarie Sialkot as an activity of NED supported "Women' Political Empowerment Programme in Sialkot." He said that women voters must not go after the family trends.
They should instead evaluate the suitability and eligibility of the contestants for performing their role as members of the professional and legislatures. The voters should also evaluate the manifestos of the political parties to find out the extent to which they carry the potential to address the challenges facing the nation and the country.
Casting of votes in favour of the contestants after having been overwhelmed by different biases and without giving necessary thought to find some rationale basis for a decision will only be counterproductive for the long term national interests.
Speaking on the occasion Muhammad Iqbal Ghumman-a renowned political and social activist said that training session as a land mark step by the organization towards political empowerment of women. He said that neither any political party nor any non-governmental organization imparted any training to the potential women polling agents for enabling them to perform their responsibilities after having necessary knowledge and skill for the assignment.
Professor Arshid Mehmood Mirza Executive Director Baidarie while addressing the participants said that Baidarie has organized training session for forty potential women polling agents belonging to forty different villages in all the four tehsils of District Sialkot. The training topics included (a) Basic Responsibilities of an election/polling agent (c) Basic rules and regulations to be observed during the process of polls (d) Ensuring smooth conduct of election on the polling stations (e) Provision of facilitation to women & girls (especially those with physical limitations) during the polling process and (f) Legal means of preventing any malpractices at the polling stations, he added.
