Sethi, all political appointees to be removed from PCB

The government-elect will remove all political appointees from sport boards, top of which is Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi, party sources told Business Recorder. A senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who declined to be named told Business Recorder that not only Najam Sethi but all political appointees in other sport boards appointed by the former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government will be sent packing and replaced with professionals.
"The former PML-N government brought state entities including the sport boards to the brink of complete collapse due to policies of favouritism and nepotism. We will definitely replace these political appointees with people who can deliver," he maintained.
In August 2017, the PCB's board of governors elected Sethi as its 30th chairman for a three-year term. The PCB constitution allows the Prime Minister, as the patron in chief of the board, to change the composition of the governing board. The premier can directly nominate two members to the board and has the power to remove its chairman.
Imran Khan had accused Najam Sethi as the caretaker Punjab Chief Minister of favouring the PML-N win the 2013 elections through applying 35 punctures. Sources further informed Business Recorder that PTI government will also remove president Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and appoint a professional on merit to restore the lost glory of the game.
