Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 157,849 tonnes of cargo comprising 116,735 tonnes of import cargo and 41,114 tonnes of export cargo including 7,919 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 116,735 tonnes comprised of 55,041 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,405 tonnes of bulk cargo; 28,690 tonnes of coal and 31,599 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,114 tonnes comprised of 29,866 tonnes of containerised cargo; 148 tonnes of bulk cargo and 11,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,919 containers comprising of 3,698 containers import and 4,221 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,572 of 20's and 1,056 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 07 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 813 of 20's and 441 of 40's loaded containers while 854 of 20's and 836 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Wan Hai-503, Kota Kasturi, Express Rome and Long Beach Trader carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Sima Giselle, MOL Gateway, Hyundai Brave, CMA CGM Tancredi and Mosel Ace carrying containers and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

The total export cargo of 25,289 tonnes includes 25,289 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,334 containers comprising of 2,003 containers import and 1,331 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely MV Coral Island and MT LNG Solaris carrying coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV Torrente carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Torrente, MV GP Asphalt-III, MV Alex-A, MV Lowland Future, MV Coral Island, MV Gisela Oldandroff, MT LNG Solaris, MT Trysil Spirit and MT Yufu were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV Maersk Bentonville, MV Big Fuji, MV Alora, MV Nautical Flisabeth, MV Paros Sea, MT Maria-III, MT Pike, MT Meltemi and MT Al Soor-II carrying containers, soyabean, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Maersk Bentonville, CV Virgo, MV Hanne Bath, MV Bitumen Queen and MV Nautical Flisabeth carrying containers, bitumen and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Iron Ore and Coal Berth respectively on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Tancredi and CV X-Press Suez carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while two ships namely CV Virgo and CV CH Chinook carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
