Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Faisal Subzwari Saturday rebuffed the reports of alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Aaj News reported. Talking to media, Subzwari said that MQM has no intention to join the potential government at the Centre.
Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar and former leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan were also present. PTI's Jahangir Tarin had contacted MQM-P convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to discuss the latest political situation and reportedly invited MQM-P to join the PTI-led government.
It was inferred from the contacts between the two parties and statements from MQM-P's Amir Khan that the party was in favour of joining the coalition with PTI with a view to serving Karachiites and playing role to resolve the city's problems. The statement of Subzwari is a sign of intra-MQM division on the party's future course of action.
