Camels in large numbers have also been brought this year and daily herds are arriving with consistency. Moreover, around 50,000 sacrificial animals have been brought so far in the mandi. Asia's biggest Maweshi Mandi at Sohrab Goth, superhighway has now become centre of attraction of people.
Administrator of Asia's biggest cattle market at Sohrab Goth, Tahir Memon said on Monday. He added that on Saturday and Sunday people in large number visited mandi with families and this trend will increase many times in days to come. He added that no fee will be charged on the entrance of public; however, they will have to park their vehicles and motorcycles in the parking areas.
Against nominal fee traders are being provided with a lot of free facilities including space with security, lighting arrangement and drinking water for cattle. We are providing 16 litres of water per animal free of cost, he added.
"Mandi has been set up on 26 blocks with VIP blocks while entry in general blocks is free of cost. Except for the VIP blocks, no additional fee is being charged for space provided to the sellers. The cattle merchants will be given space as per the availability on first come first serve basis," he added.
He said security will be ensured with the help of Rangers and Police. Moreover, different departments of Sindh including livestock and fisheries will help management by appointing veterinary doctors in mandi who will work and help traders ensuring health of animals.
