Bail to Raisani, Langove: NAB to move SC against BHC verdict

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Tuesday decided to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against Balochistan High Court (BHC) verdict to grant bail to former Balochistan finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani and former finance adviser to chief minister Balochistan Mir Khalid Langove in a mega corruption case.
An official source said that a meeting of anti-graft body decided to challenge the BHC decision of approving bail pleas of Raisani and Langove in the Supreme Court after receiving the original copy of the judgment. The NAB is conducting investigation against both the accused in the corruption case, he said.
He said that Bureau in May 2016 recovered cash and properties, having approximate worth Rs 3.5 billion, from Raisani and Langove who were found involved in Balochistan mega corruption case.
The official said that NAB had raided the residence of Raisani following a tip-off. Raisani was involved in embezzling billions of rupees from local government development funds.
According to the NAB official, Bureau had recovered more than Rs 650 million cash from the residence of the former finance secretary. The Bureau later arrested Raisani on the pointation of a person Saleem Shah who was also arrested by the NAB, he added.
He said that later NAB had also arrested other accused involved in the corruption scam including Sohail Majeed Shah, contractor and front man of Khalid Langove. The NAB on May 25, 2016 arrested Langove from outside the Balochistan High Court building.
