PACP to scale up transgender screening initiative

The Punjab AIDS Control Programme (PACP) is going to scale up its transgender screening initiative here at Fountain House. The PACP's technical committee has also decided to scale up the services at Pakistan's first exclusive transgenders clinic at Fountain House and measures aimed at reducing stigma attached with HIV.
The strategy envisages deputing more human resource at the center, facilitating priority treatment and rehabilitation for HIV/AIDS patients, enhancing counseling/health education sessions, approaching other departments and vertical programs to extend broad-based healthcare services to transgenders.
Director Punjab AIDS Control Programme, Dr Asim Altaf approved recommendations for up scaling and improvement of services at "Transgenders Clinic at Fountain House."
In partnership with "Akhuwat Khawaja Sara Rehab Programme and Fountain House," the PACP has set up Pakistan's first ever exclusive Transgenders Clinic at Fountian House where free screening for Hepatitis-B, Hepatitis-C, HIV and other diseases is provided along with free vaccination. "We have explored ways to upscale the services provided at the center - on how to make it broad-based treatment center where transgenders can be provided more free services.
