The Karachi Port handled 145,946 tonnes of cargo comprising 98,834 tonnes of import cargo and 47,112 tonnes of export cargo including 7,446 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 98,834 tonnes comprised of 48,170 tonnes of containerised cargo; 24,277 tonnes of bulk cargo; 14,200 tonnes of coal; 3,043 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 7,144 tonnes of DAP and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,112 tonnes comprised of 42,054 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,058 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,446 containers comprising of 3,424 containers import and 4,022 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,371 of 20's and 858 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 163 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,329 of 20's and 464 of 40's loaded containers while 549 of 20's and 608 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Polo, Maliakos, Chemroute Sun, Iron Baron-V and Daeho Sunshine carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and molasses respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Conti Darwin, CMA CGM Amazon, Freight Margie, NCC Najd, Mu Mian Song and BBC Nyhavn carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 151,470 tonnes includes 30,500 tonnes of LNG; 27,719 tonnes of diesel oil; 57,500 tonnes of coal; 5,000 tonnes of soyabean; 3,487 tonnes of chemical; 3,096 tonnes of project cargo and 24,168 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,262 tonnes includes 3,047 tonnes of clinker and 28,215 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,757 containers comprising of 1,272 containers import and 1,485 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely CV SM New York carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while five more ships namely CV CMA CGM Almaviva, MV Hong Harvest, MV Alora, MV Alister Bay and MV African Avocet carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Almaviva, CV SM New York, MV Hong Harvest, MV Poavosa Brave, MV Alora, MV African Avocet, MV Alister Bay, MV YM Miranda, MT LNG Lusail and MT Meltemi were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, clinker, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, CV CMA CGM Georgia, MV Big Fuji, MV RB Leah, MV TN Sunrise, MV Magda-P, MT Maria-III, MT Pike, MT Athina, MT Al Soor-II and MT NCC Noor carrying containers, soyabean, coal, cement, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV Hugo Schulte, CV CMA CGM Georgia, MV Big Fuji, MV TN Sunrise, MT LNG Ogun and MT NCC Noor carrying containers, soyabean, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore and Coal Berth, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV Hugo Schulte and CV CMA CGM Georgia carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Libra and CV Nicoline Maersk carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV MS Tiger carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
