The Lahore district administration has started preparation for the celebrations of Independence Day of Pakistan. Deputy Commissioner Lahore Anwarul Haq on Saturday directed all the relevant departments to celebrate the day with great national spirit.
He passed these directions while chairing a meeting that was held here to review the arrangements for the Independence Day which was participated by assistant commissioners, officers and representatives of Metropolitan, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, LDA, PHA, Social Welfare, Education and Health Authorities.
While addressing a meeting, the Deputy Commissioner has said that district administration along with allied departments would celebrate the Independence Day with great national zeal for which it had devised a plan. "Major roads and important junctions of the city will be adorned with national flags and colorful lightings and the city will be cleaned properly. The civil defence department will arrange rallies and a march past will be arranged by boys and girls scouts," he added.
He disclosed that they will pay homage to the national heroes and martyrs of Pakistan Movement by putting floral wreath on their graves on the Independence Day. He also instructed the assistant commissioners to engage with trade unions of their respective areas and involve them in illumination and decoration of buildings.
He also instructed Rescue 1122 and the health department to give their plans for the Independence Day and asked the Education Authority's CEO to direct all school in-charges to arrange flag hoisting ceremony in their schools along with the organization of speech and nation songs competitions.
