Anti-polio drive in Faisalabad to begin on August 6

As many as 774,800 children under 5 years of age would be administered polio vaccine drops in the selective Tehsils (City and Sadar) of the district during the anti-polio campaign which would be continued from 6 to 8 August and additional two days would observed as sweeping days for administering the polio drops to the left over children due to unknown reason. This was told by Divisional Commissioner Asif Iqbal while inaugurating the anti-polio campaign at Government General Hospital Haseeb Shaheed Colony. Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmed Fawad was also present. Director Health Services Dr Riaz Chadhar, CEO Health Mushtaq Sipra, DHO Dr M Asif Shahzad, MS Dr Waseem Bhatti, Dr Bilal Ahmad and other doctors were also present on the occasion.
Divisional Commissioner said that polio campaign in the selective tehsils of the district was being carried out to completely wipe out the chance of polio virus. He urged upon the parents to get their children vaccinated during the anti-polio campaign for complete eradication of polio virus in the country. Deputy Commissioner directed the health authority officers for effective monitoring of the campaign to achieve the 100 per cent target. He directed that polio teams should present on public points and no negligence would be tolerated during the Sub National Immunization Days (SNIDs) and he would himself monitor the campaign on daily basis. DHO Dr M Asif Shehzad informed that all necessary arrangements are finalized to implement the campaign and total 1832 polio teams would remain active during the campaign for administering the polio vaccine drops to the children under 5 years in the two selective tehsils of district.
