Electricity shortfall reaches to 6,250 megawatts

06 Aug, 2018

The electricity shortfall touched record 6,250MW mark on Sunday as demand spiked to 2,464MW amid scorching heat and soaring humidity while electricity generation fell to 18,390MW owing to closure of some hydel power producing units installed on the dams for the purpose of filling the reservoirs.
The electricity distribution companies met the shortfall by prolonged outages irking consumers across the country as tube-well running on electricity also stopped water supply.
In the provincial capital, Lahore 8-hour to 12-hour load-shedding was carried out which crippled routine life activities. LESCO sources said that only 3,200MW electricity was being supplied to the company from the national grid against the demand of 4,800MW.
