Metropolitan Commissioner of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman has issued directive for collection of rent of KMC land in accordance with the market rate so that revenue generation could be made better. He also directed that market survey should be conducted and auction of empty plots, shops and stalls be done on transparent manner and also ensure participation of citizens in it.
He said this during a meeting on Monday at KMC head office which was attended by heads of departments besides financial advisor Dr. Asghar Abbas Shaikh, senior director coordination Masood Alam and director technical S. M Shakaib, said a statement on Monday.
The Metropolitan Commissioner said notices should be issued to the petrol pump owners, on the KMC land, so that rent on market rate could also be recovered from them. He said the challans issued from various KMC departments must have the consumer number on it. He said focal persons have been nominated from different departments of the KMC for cases pending in courts and to help the financial advisor. He said the residents of the approved schemes should contact the lease department of the KMC for obtaining leasing rights to their land. He urged the revenue officers to speed up their work to get the required results.
Tenders of all works of Landhi and Korangi zoo have been issued and development works have been started. The Metropolitan Commissioner also established a committee led by the financial advisor to submit its recommendations on the preparation for auction of the KMC land.
