The Karachi Port handled 165,025 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,945 tonnes of import cargo and 47,080 tonnes of export cargo including 6,537 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 117,945 tonnes comprised of 59,862 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,755 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,368 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 3,960 tonnes of DAP and 40,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 47,080 tonnes comprised of 16,632 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,820 tonnes of clinker; 5,628 tonnes of wheat and 11,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,537 containers comprising of 4,078 containers import and 2,459 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,284 of 20's and 1,327 of 40's loaded while 14 of 20's and 63 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 487 of 20's and 312 of 40's loaded containers while 392 of 20's and 478 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Cosco Rotterdam, Cora, Han Yi and Vlazakis-1 carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Ningbo Express, Wieland, Athens Bridge, Bomar Hermes, MS Tiger, Atlantas-II, MT Shalamar, Delfa and Han Yi carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 138,668 tonnes comprising 90,770 tonnes of import cargo and 47,898 tonnes of export cargo including 2,637 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 90,770 tonnes includes 4,200 tonnes of palm oil; 34,699 tonnes of coal; 18,586 tonnes of soyabean; 14,950 tonnes of chemical and 18,335 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,898 tonnes includes 16,130 tonnes of cement and 31,768 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,637 containers comprising of 965 containers import and 1,672 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Earth and MV Nautical Amethys carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Sana, MV Chemroad Polaris and MT NCC Noor carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Earth, CV MSC Sana, MV BTG Fuji, MV Magda-P, MV Nautical Amethys, MV AMS Pegasus-III, MV Chemroad Polaris and MT NCC Noor were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, cement, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV MSC Athos, MV RB Leah, MV Cacilia-B, MT Athina, MT Pike, MT Meltemi, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Concerlo carrying containers, soyabean, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV MSC Silvana, CV Maersk Columbus, CV MSC Athos, MV Bunga Lila, MT LNG Labita and MT Concerlo carrying containers, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were four ships namely CV MSC Silvana, CV Maersk Columbus, MV Bunga Lila and MT LNG Lobita carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely MOL Grandeur carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
