NAB chief reiterates to wipe out corruption

Chairman National Accountability Bureau Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that NAB is committed to eradicate corruption from the country at any cost by utilising all resources. He said this while reviewing the performance of all wings of NAB Lahore. The DG informed about the latest progress on all corruption cases and status of complaints verification under processed.
The chairman NAB was informed about the latest developments in investigations against the management of Ferozepur city on looting huge amount from people by cheating them; progress in inquiry against former MNA Mudassar Qayyum Nehra, MNA Azhar Qayyum Nehra for having illegal assets beyond income, corruption case complaint investigations against former Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique in purchase of 55 locomotives, illegal lease of Railway land; corruption in renovation of Railway Stations, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
The chairman was also briefed about complaint verification status of former provincial minister Saiful Maluk Khokar's amassing alleged illegal assets; complaints of former MNA Nasir Iqbal for abuse of authority; complaint investigations of former ETPB chairman Siddiq-ul-Farooq in illegal lease of state land; complaints verification status of Secretary Primary and Secondary health Ali Jan for having assets of beyond income and corruption in health projects; complaints of alleged corruption in LDA projects against former chief engineer Israr Saeed; complaint verification status against the corruption case of Punjab Public Service Commission; complaints against officers of Municipal Corporation, Gujranwala on illegally selling 247 Kanal government land; corruption complaints against MNA Riaz-ul-Haq for committing corruption in development projects in district Okara; complaints against making illegal assets against former CCPO Amin Venice, former DIG Haider Ashraf; alleged illegal appointments of lecturers in University of Agriculture, Faisalabad; corruption complaints against officers of LDA in expansion project of doubling Ferozepur road to Multan road. DG, NAB Lahore briefed the chairman about the latest status of corruption complaints against former minister Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo.
Talking on the occasion, chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal directed NAB officers to try utmost for concluding investigations of corruption cases within stipulated time frame of 10 months. NAB officers should ensure immediate summoning of the accused. The chairman was also informed about the summoning of MNA Azhar Qayyum Nehra in NAB Lahore on August 10. Chairman said NAB does not care about the position/status of accused. NAB only focuses to perform the best.
He directed NAB officers to perform their duties independently in accordance with law. The investigations of all cases should be comprehensive, he said adding that the time of the accused should not be wasted. He directed to take measures to resolve peoples' complaint immediately and complaints should not only be addressed but also accused should be informed about the status of complaint by telephone.
He said special measures would be taken to further improve the performance of NAB officers as their role is pivotal in elimination of corruption. He appreciated investigation of cases in NAB under combined investigation team (CIT) system.-PR
